COOPERATIVE EDUCATION
This
unit focuses on linking students with industry
to secure Experiential Learning opportunities a
compulsory practical component of most formal
programmes of Universities of Technology
opportunities. Experiential Learning
Practitioners approach industry for such
opportunities, while industries often approach
the CUT to provide the opportunities for
students.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
This
unit focuses on the development of the
workforce (students and graduates) as a
training provider for the private and public
sectors. It includes assisting potential
employers to register students in mainstream
university programmes and learnerships.
The
centre works closely with the different
SETA’s to fast-track the development of
the workforce, in an endeavour to address
scarce and critical skills in the different
economic sectors.
OUTREACH PROGRAMME
We
partner with private and public sectors to
identify feasible projects and beneficiaries
from the communities. This is done in an effort
to pursue continuous community building and
upliftment. Involved in the projects are
individual students, student organisations and
staff members. Projects include vegetable
gardens, food safety, interpreting and giving
relevant information to vulnerable communities
e.g. farm workers.
