The Centre of Organisation Development
(the Centre) has been established to serve as
the catalyst function in order to create change
in the University.
The Centre will guide the development of
the organisation and the academic sphere and
will guide the development and utilisation of
the human resources at the University in order
to enable the University Free State to achieve
its goals by making a significant contribution
to:
The University, in terms of its organisational and
academic development and development, utilisation
and care of its human resources;
The individual, in terms of his or her needs and
aspirations;
The community at large, in terms of an enhanced
quality of life
Terms of Reference
1.
The Centre shall provide professional facilitative,
consultative and liaison services to the
Vice-Chancellor and the Executive Management (EM) to
ensure that the University keeps abreast with
changes in the organisational, academic and human
resources disciplines.
2.
The Centre shall give advice on organisational,
academic and human resources development matters to
the Vice-Chancellor and the Executive Management
(EM).
3.
The Centre shall propose interventions and
opportunities from multiple directions and will
develop solutions that take numerous perspectives
into account.
4.
The Centre shall investigate organisational,
academic and human resources development aspects
referred to it by the Vice-Chancellor and the
EM.
5.
All recommendations and proposals from the Centre,
as well as specific recommendations, reports,
research results and other documentation shall serve
as a report on the agenda of EM meetings.
6.
The Centre has no authority other than giving
permission for the presentation of or attendance at
development sessions/projects and giving advice to
the Vice-Chancellor and the EM.
7.
The Centre will be responsible and accountable for
the following Key Performance Areas
(KPA's):
o
Organisational Development
o
Academic Development
o
Human Resources Development
o
Human Resources Utilisation; and
o
Human Resources Social Welfare and
Recreation
8.
The Centre will be more removed from processes and
operational issues and will rather be focussing on
the conceptual and human resources aspects within
the University.
9.
The Centre shall be solely responsible for the
presentation of or attendance at a development
session/project and no such sessions or projects
shall be arranged without the written approval of
the Centre.
